[Don't name and shame people].

I've been more active on MCM recently and I've noticed a huge pattern. A lot of members here call themselves Entrepreneurs or Developers when they're not either. Why do people do this?

Calling yourself a Developer and selling Developer services after a week of learning a programming language is not how you're meant to do things. Personally, I believe this is a huge problem on MCM as people are paying for bad quality work. I have seen people create Website Development Services and when you ask them for their portfolio they provide links to Enjin sites with custom backgrounds or worse (templates/work credited to other developers).

Surely I can't be the only one that thinks these low quality services should be removed from MCM? What's your opinion on this matter?

I agree with the first part and I find it annoying, but removing services simply because they don't provide the best quality is ridiculous.

Couldn't agree more, but at least you know the shitty ones are legit, a scammer wouldn't put low quality examples on his thread.

Some of these services are charging people ridiculous amounts for the quality of work that is received. It fills purchasers with false hope (because a bunch of these guys have vouches from friends) and therefore this could be seen as a form of deceiving (semi-scamming?).

Yes, I would see it like that. It's similar to buying vouches on Amazon or buying likes on Facebook which is ridiculously annoying.

Amazon have apparently been clamping down on people that sell reviews :)

As long as the person's prices fit their quality of work, I don't really see it being a problem. If people want to post their services, let them.
True but seriously, after a week of learning a programming language you're in no place to be opening a service.

Everyone starts somewhere. I haven't sold a single build because they're awful, but the more someone sells, the more the build, the more practice, and over time, they become better.

You should build because you like it not because you're being paid for it. If you wanna get better at something then you do it.

I do enjoy building, but I have other things besides Minecraft I also enjoy, and can occasionally be paid for.

But that's a choice he makes. His builds shouldn't be banned because they're bad... Them not selling should drive the price of those bad builds down, and motivates him more to work on his skills, and create higher quality builds that sell for more.

Why not use money as an incentive? Isn't that what everyone does in real life?

Just remember that this thread is mainly focused on development services. Building services are completely different.

See, I can fully relate to this. I hate seeing people making false claims then when you call them out they get all defensive. For example, you ask about a portfolio, suddenly it's a flame war as they think it's a hate comment.

This is a prime reason I don't market my work publicly any longer too, people go ahead and steal things then state they've created them. Twice now on MC-Market someone's tried to resell my work or sell my work which is provided for free somewhere on here.

It's pretty pathetic and it needs to stop.

I personally think that removing low quality posts about people "being a developer" should be a thing, but it would just add more work for the moderators, as they would have to personally talk to the person.

Ollie is my developer ^.^ Greatest developer out there, currently coding my plugins for Hyperbian.

EDIT: I have "Entrepreneur" in my title because I actually am one. I invest in other resources to help others become bigger and from it gain myself as well. I create popular servers and help people with businesses. I mean no one is throwing shots at me :p But just wanted to clear that up haha but this is very true, some people have that title on here and are about 13 years old and don't have over $50 in their savings/dont even know how an investment works.
There is a lot of people on here who give themselves the "Entrepreneur" title. I understand that some people make good money and would consider themselves entrepreneurs but I think there is far too many people with "Entrepreneur" and/or "Developer" titles on this website.
