Ever heard of the concept supply and demand? Well the supply for clean responsive forum software is almost null, however the demand is extremely high. Therefor the developers/owners of xenforo Ltd are able to charge virtually any price they want and they will still make sales.

People are willing to pay for it. If the community stepped up, stopped paying for licenses and asked for a reduction then the price may go down unless the developers/sales team are that much of idiots.
