Hi,
I've come to the conclusion that Facebook is taking social media to a whole new level.
I travel a lot for work. To save money I use Whatsapp, Viber, etc for phone communications. Recently, a colleague that was in a different country wanted to contact me but his phone was out of battery. He used his wife's phone to get in touch with me through whatsapp.
We finish our texting sessions which consisted of 12 texts in total.
A day later I open up Facebook and see his wife in my 'People you may know' list.
Let's put a few things forward:
This doesn't really surprise me or anything but I thought it would be a interesting story to share.
Tl:dr Facebook uses whatsapp phone numbers and other data to find 'people you may know'.

Let's put a few things forward:
- This person that contacted me was a colleague. I don't have him on Facebook nor have I ever contacted him before. This was my first engagement ever with him. We don't have a surprising amount of mutual friends, liked pages or anything like that either
- Facebook acquired WhatsApp a while ago.
- Facebook uses all the information they can to give you 'the best social media experience'.
This doesn't really surprise me or anything but I thought it would be a interesting story to share.
