I mean I earned $250 from a $20 server with only investing time and effort in it.

Little things like that are never a guarantee. It is very unlikely for most people to make that kind of money off that kind of investment on a server. Heck even largely invested into servers fail all the time, you just have to do everything right to be successful.

You're right and luck is also a thing you've to get people that are able to donate to keep it up in this case.
