There is an advertisement on Cosmic.

People join your server.

You gain a playerbase.

40% of the people leave, the rest stay on (which creates a playerbase)

Advertise again,

Get more people

Process repeats.

Spamming your server ip on big servers just makes you look desperate and sad. This truly is the worst way to get players.

How do you suggest to expand small servers with a low capital?

Being active, make your players want to stay by having a conversation with them. Tell them why they should stay. Make them vote for rewards /more people. There are many ways to make the players stay. Just be creative and make them want to stay. People don't do that cause there just plain lazy.

Lets be honest, you are crushed by competitors on voting sites. Even if you have a unique server people prefer to play on generic servers. We aren't talking about retaining players, its more about obtaining them first.
