Its got nice effects, I just think for a fortnite video there was "too much" non kills and tricks time, if that makes sense. Like a little bit of reloading & running around isnt really necessary. PERSONAL OPINION!

In the spin transition from the first clip to the second, if you're using AE apply a motion tile so that the black space when it rotates is filled. You could add a directional blur to that also to hide that edit. Also, I think that that first shot at 0:08 was pretty dull. The song is building up but there's nothing in the video that signals the climax, so there's sort of a discord between what you're hearing and what you're seeing. Hype up the video just as much as the song does, no more, no less. Mirror the build up and the edit will feel a lot more unified. The same can be said about any of the other subclimaxes. Then at 0:15, the fire effect that I see so many effect packs include goes over the cinematic bars that you have. Whatever method you're using to get those bars, put the fire animation under it. It loses the immersion. Also, you're using the fire animation to transition from one clip to another.. but at the same time you're not. It's somewhat transparent and all that happens is the clip fades into the other. You should be trying to make that cut from one to another less noticeable with that animation, which seems to be the most obvious intention. If your friend takes into consideration those points, he's on his way to become a pretty good editor. Much love, vividly :p

1) Use the replay editor, not gameplay.
2) Using the replay editor, make cinematics to add in.
3) Work on some or get some colour corrections that don't look like they are from 2012
4) Don't use overlays like the flames unless it makes sense.
5) For the rotation transition, zoom in a little bit so you can't see the video edges.
6) Be creative with ideas and effects.

I am working on an edit atm but try make something like this, it's very short and over edited but it's a good edit regardless:
