Feedback on our new resource index page

Howdy all,

Tonight we have implemented our brand new resource index page, and I am excited to share it with you all. I would love to know what everyone thinks of the change and if you can find any bugs then we'll look into fixing them all ASAP.

Along with the new index page we have also created a new 'Browse All Resources' page which you can see below the navbar in the resources section, or by clicking here.

If everyone hates it then we will once again revert back until we can develop something that the majority likes, but hopefull you think this looks neater!

Please use this link for now, it will be changed in a few minutes to the one linked in the OP. We are also aware of the issue of you not being able to go past the first page and that should be fixed in a second too

I feel like the original style (without seperate category page) was better and just simple enough that it didn't need to be changed.

The reason I wanted to change it is that I've always felt that it was unintuitive to display things that are completely different next to each other by default. With this new layout you'll have to select which category you want to see before the resources show up.

Honestly it bothers me that I can't see the latest resources wheter they're from a category or another.

How is this revamped? I dislike this so much. The other one was so easy to navigate. It had all the resources in a section. This is much harder to navigate on. To find the recourse you want, you have to go through pages upon pages. The old one, you can search it. In my opinion this is awful.

It is still possible to search resources and do everything you used to be able to, the only change has been to the index page of /resources/ itself.

Surely, you'd want to sort out the issues/bugs first that people have reported (such as here) within the resources section as that should take priority over designing a new index page?

Unfortunately, we need Jayson in particular to handle those bug fixes and he has been exceedingly busy recently. This resource index page was developed by a different developer.

I appreciate the effort of improving the resources section, but why it's the main reason for making separate categories? All in one will be better in my opinion

That previous attempt we made to change the index page was using an off-the-shelf addon that didn't have the customisability or benefits that this new custom addon has. My understanding was that the main concern people had last time wasn't necessarily with the new look, but was the removal of the functionality of being able to view all resources (excluding categories).

In my opinion, this new page is far easier for our newer users to navigate, and it makes navigation much more clear. I also do want our established members to be happy with the change, which is why we created the new page which we will be making more easily accessible in a few minutes.

Yeah, I get you, but on the older category design, you already were able to select which category you wanted to view, in my opinion, it was simpler and easier for new members, they were able to view all resources, they weren't forced to select a category to buy a product.

For an owner, trust me that the old design was better to look into all resources because maybe he's interested in plugins, builds, and setups at the same time. Now new customers maybe don't know that "all resources" category and won't buy multiple items.

I think this is the page I'm supposed to be looking at. This thread is a bit of a hot mess. It's all right, definitely more clean and modern than what was there before but it's lacking a search feature as someone pointed out.

I don't have any before pictures saved but the layout used to be almost identical to Spigot's resource index page, which is the default xenForo one

I don't fully understand what you mean by this, our previous index page didn't have a search feature either

Correct link is still not fixed in OP. Resources was great before, just add an option to search for just resources (tired of looking stuff up and getting stuff from threads that were posted months ago) and I think it'll be fantastic.

If we add a better search functionality to the new resource layout will think it'll be fantastic too?
