Hi, I did this for an assignment for a design firm I'm looking to get into. I was asked to create a kiosk UI design for any imaginary scenario and given a few mandatory features for the design (which I've added).

I'd also like suggestions on how I can change the map - if anybody knows websites that can provide me with map layouts for UI designers then please lmk, im sure there are plenty websites for that. If you feel there's anything else that needs to be added/changed, please let me know as well. I've decided to recieve critics from you guys before I turn it in.

In the name , quick navigation needs to be the first thing you see on the page hence on the top.

Button styles are inconsistent , along with the padding on the top.

Clean , and neat design however , a few changes and you got yourself a homerun , other things I've mentioned in the screenshot
I mean the quick navigation is not higher in the user priority, it's a side feature. The search bar allows users to find whatever they want, both within and outside the quick access bar. Have you ever seen a search bar not displayed at the top?

The 'powered by Google' watermark rfers to the map, so i thought it would be a better idea to have it closer to the map preview as having watermarks at the bottom of a design indicates the whole design. The 'Swipe ->' was meant for the users to be able to access more categories btw, like 'Pastries' etc. I kept it on the right side since it provides a better structure since the user will be scrolling to the right of the list, so it provides better visibility rather than having it in the middle which would make less sense unless it suggests the user to 'scroll down' which it doesn't, rather asks to 'scroll right'.

The buttons below the map is the style Google maps uses for their categories, so I dont really see a reason to have them follow the same style since if it's a Google integration, that won't be customisable. Increasing tracking (spacing) within texts usually look bad and especially for a clean UI which im going for, its not as compatible.

I do not understand the problem with the 'Hey' in the heading, it was supposed to make the approach more friendly and we can't input a person's name since it's used by everyone who passes it and identifying the person is pointless.

One problem with my design that I need to fix would be the spacings between the content which I didn't really make sure are constant, but I still do appreciate your effort and will attempt to implement those changes and see the difference. Thanks <3

I like the design itself, just the wording seems off:

For the intro "Hey, how may..." I would change it to -> "Where are you headed?" it's more straightforward and people will read it and think, perfect! this is where I need to be to search a place.

Remove the periods on all four of the colored button's descriptions, they're not complete sentences. I might even suggest removing the specifics of these descriptions to:

Orange - Locate and Get Directions or just "Directions"
Blue - Parking and Car Rental or just "Parking" (then add a feature later on to mark where you parked)
Pink - Banks and ATMs or just "Services"
Green - "Public Transit" seems most fitting

Lastly, "Lets find you somewher to eat" seems weird to say. Maybe, "Hungry? Let's eat!" or "Need a snack?" which will keep your more personal and less formal approach you mentioned you like, and also will keep it short and simple without it sounding like weird English.

Appreciate your insights, I've made a few changes to it after submitting the assignment, also the search bar isn't just for directions, rather works more as a search engine for the whole UI, and doesn't occupy just a single feature.

I like the design, though I think in the right bottom corner you could perhaps delete the swipe text, I think it's unnecessary. Perhaps making it when you hover over the arrow instead it changes colour, so people know it will swipe somehow?

It's not a website UI, it's for a kiosk, those touch screen devices you may find in malls, restaurants, etc, so hovering is not an action. However, I did tweak the design and remove the swipe option as a result. I provided the design on the comments above you.

Thank you for the critic though, really appreciate it <3
