I stopped running servers a while back for the sole reason that chargebacks were really hard for me to win. is there a really good way to fight em?
It would be preferable to be able to handle them myself, I have no intentions of running a server where the amount of chargebacks is over the amount that I can handle myself. It's cool though, never knew there were such servicesI've used anti chargeback services in the past, such as xsolla which was 30%, might have been less, I can't quite remember. It's a hit, but but one of my main indicators that this was a good way to go was when I saw the ostiapvp sales thread where out of 170k of donations, near enough 65k were lost in successful chargebacks, which is considerably more than even 30%, additionally, making an example out of the unsuccessful chargeback attempts makes future, would be refunders disuaded. https://xsolla.com/blog/payments/1291/how-to-manage-chargebacks-and-refunds
Cards are a different story our success rate with them was 60/40. A well written purchase agreement goes a long way.
Not always that easy when they have protection on their side. Depends what the purchase is for, if it can be proved on behalf of the server that it was provided.
How would I go about showing PayPal that the user received the thing they bought? Not a server owner, but I own a client where people would also purchase with PayPal, won every chargeback.
Just write PayPal formally, and give them as much proof as you possibly can showing that they have received the product, etc.
Most people use fake names on people so also use that against them, just mention it in your reply.
