Hey all.
I guess I never really did one of these, and I have some spare time to use.
I'm PlusCreations, a System Administrator and well rounded IT. I currently live in Virginia, in the US of A.
I have worked on my career and credentials for the past 10 years, starting when I was only 11. I got really into taking things apart and reverse engineering systems. I built my first PC when I was 12, all without help. It had an Intel Pentium and 4GB of DDR3 memory (Keep in mind this was 2011). Messing with systems allowed me to land my first job at Flexential in Pennsylvania. I helped on website support chat and built custom order servers for businesses. A man also peaked my interest in the world of Linux.
I started really getting into Linux in 2013, learning everything I can. I remember I thought the distro name of Ubuntu was super funny, "Raring Ringtail". I experimented with many different distros, such as Debian, CentOS, and met someone with (and got to mess around on) the original UNIX OSF/1 operating system. This is when I consider myself getting serious into the world of IT and System Administration.
When I was 17, I enlisted to the US Navy. I joined onto Submarines as an ITS (Information Systems Technician Submarines), and started as an E-3 (JROTC - yeah, make your jokes...)
I am now 22, and have been in for 5 years. I am now a 2nd Class Petty Officer.
I have gone through multiple network rebuilds, countless hours of troubleshooting, and many hours of general maintenance and safekeeping of the Submarine fleet's network systems, always trying my best to learn something new through my practices.
Over the past 5 years, I have worked to obtain many certifications such as Linux+, Network+, Security+, and Project+ (All CompTIA courses/exams).
My old Chief System Administrator had an in with someone at VMWare, and allowed my Chief and I to be vouched to take the VMWare VCP course/exam and become certified. Super cool!
I continued on my own to obtain multiple Microsoft certifications (cause why not?) with Exchange, Active Directory/Domain Services, Hypervisor, and Azure products.
I am currently working on my CCNA and my CISSIP, as well as fighting to keep my development workspace alive with new VMs running operating systems to learn, as well as my own domain! I also test software and web services!
I have started to advertise freelancing on here to gain an extra income (the Navy ain't enough tbh!) and it is working out great!
