I was involved in a dangerous car accident, that almost took my ability to walk, and almost took my life. A truck fell over my mom's car, I wasn't aware as I was sleeping in the car's front seat, my mom and all my brothers got out of the car before milliseconds of the truck falling on top of the car. I suddenly wake up to the voice of my mom shouting from a distance, I don't remember what she said, but I remember it was something like "get out of the car now!". I suddenly open my eyes widely, a second later, I find myself in the car squished under a truck.

After 30 minutes I remember waking up with a massive number if people around me, and medics all over the place. My mom dripping tears and saying "it is okay honey, you'll be fine".

The pain I was in, is indescribable, I broke both hips, my shoulder, my ribs, 3 fingers and several bones from both legs. I also had many cuts, like big cuts on my face and body. I was rushed to the hospital and I remember everyone looking at me while I am shouting and screaming from pain.

I then underwent several surgeries, 1 of them failed, it was for my hip. They had to replace it with a metal piece as my hip was completely crushed. After 3 weeks in the hospital, I got out only on a wheelchair, I couldn't move any part of my body, specially my legs. I took physical therapies and had to take weekly x-rays, yes that sucked.

I quit all sports, I quit everything. I thought my life was going to turn to shit. I then realized that I was totally wrong, I went several surgeries in my legs, and doctors have been able to recover my broken parts, slowly, it worked. I stayed in bed for almost 3-4 months and then started using my hands to move my wheelchair, it was a struggle but I had to get over it.

After a rough 1 year, I get surprised with all 4 doctors who operated all my surgeries, they came in, in my room, they stood still, all with a big wide smile on their face. I received a small paper from my favorite doctor out of the 4 of them. It said "we are happy to tell you that you are able to walk again and live your normal life" I immediately started crying from happiness, words couldn't describe how thankful I am for being blessed, my mother and father where most supportive with what happened to me, I love them both.

Here I am today, I took my first step, and trust me, that is the best feeling I ever had <3, I really want you guys to never ever give up on whatever happens to you, there is always a way back up. Don't complain about small stuff, keep in mind that there are always people who suffer more than you do.

Thank You for your time <3

People may think walking is the smallest thing in life but then when your dealing with none, it’s depressing. Keep moving pal, your a lucky soldier.

I kind of have the same story but I wasn't close to dying, when I was younger I had a disease called ADEM and somehow it kept me from walking. My dad tells me stories today about how I would ask him if I'll ever walk again and he tells me he promises I will. That made him tear up inside because he truly didn't know, I was very lucky to overcome ADEM! Now I play a defensive position in soccer and I'm a black belt in Tae Kwon Doe so ADEM only made me stronger! I'm glad you are able to walk now anyway!
