I can only recommend the Cisco Asa 5505

This is a fairly small firewall, which has a throughput on 150 Mbit/s

You can ether use Iptables or Firewall ID (Personally I recommend FirewallID) since you can edit it on the fly without needing to restart the firewall.

Fail2Ban is most commonly used Firewall. You can use Ubuntu Firewall as well, or simply configure IP Tables.
There are many options, you just need to choose one of them. Good luck with protecting your server ^^

fail2ban isn't even a firewall, stop talking crap. lol
fail2ban takes advantage of your iptables (or whatever you configure) to prevent things like bruteforcing on SSH.
