I could write pages about how well Ajdin did as MC-Market's system administrator (and with limited resources too), as well as all the problems that have occurred since then, but I'll try and keep this short.

(TLDR 1) With the amount of money MC-Market brings in each month, and the sheer size this website has grown to, random downtime is unacceptable. (/TLDR 1)

I don't even use MC-Market that much anymore, but I have noticed some pretty heavy downtime in the past 48 hours. Like just now, the site was unreachable for about 30 minutes. There's only 1440 minutes in a day. 30 minutes of straight downtime with no explanation is inadmissible.

For those of you who don't know, "Bad Gateway 502" is a server error, meaning there is a problem with something on MC-Market's end (not Cloudflare).

People keep pointing their fingers saying "DDoS", but let's be real here. MC-Market uses Cloudflare, and if they're doing things properly the internal IP should not be exposed in anyway, so a DDoS attack shouldn't even be possible.

And if enabling advanced Cloudflare protection would solve the issue, then enable it. I know I would much rather have to see this screen for a few seconds each day rather than having to wait for the website to come back online (and I'm sure most people would agree):

Even if the internal MC-Market server gets DDoSed, they need a system in place to keep the site up and running.

The website has been making lots of money for the past few months and barely anything has been added. The last big thing was the new business account system at the beginning of May. Prior to that, the only updates were little tweaks to the website here and there, all the way until the reputation system was released back in June 2016. Even the MC-Market server got shut down, creating even more room for investing in the website.

(TLDR 2) I'm not saying we need to accept every suggestion that requires hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars to be spent on a new extension (or other things), but at least spend a little more to keep the site online.

Just look, there's 259 users browsing the website as I write this, and nearly 2,500 members online within the past 24 hours!

I don't really care if he's active on MC-Market, as long as things are under control and running smoothly, which unfortunately has not been the case.

It's fairly bad indeed. I've offered my services to Mick months ago but he said they should be fine. There's been some improvement (compared to the 3 days downtime in december) but not even CLOSE to how it should be for a website of this size.

What's actually bothering me is the lack of transparency when it comes to all the downtime.

I'd also like to point out that this HAS been affecting my business. I can clearly see a decrease in referrals from MCM. This is due to 2 reasons:
  1. The actual downtime and lack of views on my frontpage ad/thread.
  2. Me not being able to up my thread due to the downtime.
Anvilnode has been advertising with MC-Market for over a year now. August is going to be our last month because of this. Even with my background with MCM, I don't want to provide financial support for a site like this where issues and concerns aren't addressed properly.

And what motivated me to create this thread was that it was affecting my business dealings as well.
I was unable to respond to PMs or reply to posts on my thread. Yet the staff on MC-Market (I did it as well when I was moderator) recommend using the PM system to do deals instead of using Skype, because Skype messages can be edited, deleted, and it's not always possible to confirm you're talking to who you think you're talking to. But it seems I'm going to have to start using Skype again just to communicate with people if I can't reliably communicate with them via MCM.

I'd like to think that we've fixed (or at least improved) this right now. I am still constantly looking into improvements or changes we can make with system administration and hosting so I hope to see more improvements with this in the future.
