Look at this atrocity. All I want to do is use this very pretty banner fawny made but ya had to compress the header into 5 bytes. In fact, the whole header system is pretty awful. It really needs a fresh coat of paint. But one problem at a time look at this:

this is a sin. pls fix

EDIT: Spotify made it into the video, i hope you like Logic.

With our new thread cover addon, we are also able to use that addon for profile covers if we like, I just kept using our existing addon for that.

What is everyone's opinion on us having profile covers be like thread covers instead of how they currently are?

should be big enough where you can lift that limit without any issues.
If you’re referring to storage (which mostly isn’t a problem), one of the real issues is with rendering on the client side, especially for those with slower internet. I’ve seen one thread design be 25MBs and before I got an upgrade, it took a rather long time to load those.

Besides that, often times people make them just too big which forces compression to fit, especially with profile pictures (they’re tiny!)

Sizing correctly also helps prevent our system from outright rejecting your request.

In our most recent announcement, I made a change to make profile cover compression less aggressive, but any more than that isn't possible with our current addon that we are using. We're working on our upgrade to XF2, and once we upgrade we will likely be switching which addon we use so if the compression is still a problem for you, it probably won't be when we use the more up to date addon.

I'll move this to the bug report archives, thank you
