You need to go into essentials and into the chat section and change it. If you don't know how to do this that I recommend going onto YouTube and looking.
Sorry i just resolved the problem it was a plugin i installed that messed up the chat. The youtube video i watched on the plugin had no warning that it did this so i was left confused. Thanks for the help though!
