Fixing Regens (Water/Lava Flow)

Is there any way to fix water into lava flow (not creating cobble on the sides) without getting a new cannon jar, I'm using Beer but the same issue occurs on Paper 1.8.8 and it's fine on 1.8.9

Pretty sure you need a new cannon jar

I've tested Beer, BeerLite, Elapsed, & Flame.
