Hey all!
I'm on the hunt for MC Java mod developer. I've had a plan for a custom MC mod for a while, and trying to get it made has not been the best time so far.
Previously I was working with an established mod developer on bringing it to life. It was going well, but the dev was slow on progress and even slower to deliver. Eventually they just fell off entirely along with the fees I paid them to build the mod to completion. Womp. it sucks but life happens and we all move on right?
Anyway, here I am a few years later looking again to bring this mod to life. The mod concept is not terribly complicated, but it also isn't super basic. Ideally I'd like it to be performant and as bug-free as possible. I know bugs happen, but we can squash them as they come up. What's more important is reusable code, performant code, and good commenting in case it needs to move to another dev down the road.
I have a current Alpha version of the existing mod which is written for 1.12.2. It works, has alot of stuff built in already. it's not complete, definitely some bugs, and I don't have the "source" as much as the compiled and working jar file. I'm not a java dev so I have no idea how useful that is from a code standpoint, but at the very least it is a reference to see how it works already if it needs to be remade right? I'll list a few general requirements I think make sense below for a dev.
Requirements:
My friends and I usually record/stream little series with themes. I use a combo of different mods to try and get a nice baseline for mechanics, but it's clunky. Having the custom means I install 1 thing to get our "rules" in, and then we add mods to enhance gameplay further. The longish-term tag means that I would be wanting to maintain this as MC updates in the future, and also adding enhancements to the mod as new ideas or needs come up. If new ideas make more sense to break out into a separate add-on mod, that also works for me. This initial request is for the "essentials".
I'm flexible on structure here. Ideally I'd love to toss a finished version on curseforge for others to enjoy as well. I'm willing to just pay to have it made and maintained, and then i can publish it myself on curseforge (meh. feels weird cause i'm not a dev). Or if an established dev wants to make this their own mod in collaboration with me, they could host it on their page and claim ownership, and I can be labelled as a co-author/contributor. Still happy to pay but if they're taking ownership and advertising rates should reflect me not having sole control. You know? Either way I'm happy to pay for initial build of the 1.0 version of the mod.
I have a github gist .md file with the requirements, how I feel it should function, and some example mods I've used before that offer pieces of functionality I've drawn inspiration from. So anyone interested that I partner with has a detailed roadmap for what my vision is. I can also keep maintaining that file as a master source. Or we can do an ad-hoc Trello board for a build and stop out features that way which would be pretty neat actually now that I'm typing this out loud.
If you're interested, I'd love to hear from you. Either DM or reply to post. I'd love to hear about your rates (average is fine), experience with Java, and experience with minecraft modding specifically. If you have some public mods that went well feel free to link them so I can check them out. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Requirements:
- Actual java developer (i don't think no-code tools is the way to go here)
- Experience with making forge mods, especially multiplayer compatible ones
- Ability to build for latest MC/Forge and maintain as new releases come out
- Modelling for blocks and items and stuff
- Design experience for textures (optional but nice, I was doing it for the current build and just shipping assets off)
- Familiarity with fabric in case I want to port to that down the road (super optional, nice to have though)
