Hey there, good question and one I get a lot. I enjoy doing this, so for me the monthly outgoing is not something I try and reduce, but rather extend for the better experience of successful applicants. All servers are self managed etc, so it is fairly hands off for me.

Looks good, but how can you make this sustainable for you? I mean, sure you can probably survive paying for a server for a few months but how can you guarantee a stable cash flow to pay for the server(s) in the long run?

As you expand and you receive more applications you would have to expand the service as you mentioned you do not overallocate a lot of resources. Where are you going to get the money from?

You said you liked hosting servers for people and that is understandable because it's quite fun but eventually everything gets more and more boring which is the reason these kind of services generally don't survive more than half a year, if even. I'm sorry if I'm a bit skeptical about this, but I've seen too many services like this and hosts shut down because it wasn't sustainable since it is a very competitive market.

This is a fair comment, but this is a charitable scheme. I don't require funding (although it is welcome) and don't plan to accept more applications once I reach a certain point (based on load).

Successful applicants are subject to monthly reviews to assure they are not taking up space that could be used by someone less fortunate or more innovative.

Sad news guys. Today I was made redundant at work.

This means I need to save any money I can to pay my rent and feed myself while I search for a new job.

Of course now you all understand what this means, I can not maintain a non-profit such as this. Was lovely meeting everyone!
