So you barely know eachother. In your situation, i would try to be around her more often. Become friends with her friends. slowly work your way in. Shyness can be an asset if you play your cards right. If you pass her in the hallway, suddenly drop your books and bend down right in her path. If she's worth your time, she'll stop and help you. Just thank her and explain why you droped them (make up something really plausible but dont look stupid. Later on, if you get a chance to talk to her, do it. talk about class. ask for homework help as a reason to get her number. Then over a few weeks, let her get to know you. Pick your words carefully. Social awkwardness can be cute if played correctly as well. Then just kinda work your way into being close to her. it sounds like you are in no real rush to get this done and that will help you big time. Try to avoid talking in "i's" by that i mean "i like this. i like that. this annoys ME." instead, try to get her to talk about herself. Talk in "You's" Do YOU like this? Doesnt it annoy YOU when... that kinda thing. This may sound a little daunting right now. but if you really take the time to think it over, it isn't nearly as hard as it sounds. Shy and Socially awkward has gotten me the best relationship ive ever had even though I played them up a little bit. All you can do is try to keep cool. Studdering is unavoidable but try to minimize it if you can.
