Hey,

I contacted GigaPros today, about what server they recommend for a 50 player Minecraft server.

I don't have one, just wanted to see what they could do...

So i asked in livechat, he said he don't know and opened a ticket, after around 3 hours i got this reply:

Thanks for contacting us in this regard. For running a Minecraft server for 50 players, you will need a server with 150+ GB of RAM, because approx player use around 2 to 3 GB of RAM on the server to run Minecraft smoothly. Secondly, the Processor should have the capacity to support that, but RAM is the main requirement.

Apart from that, for running a gaming server you should be alert for getting DDoS attacks, gaming servers are quite prone to getting attacks, so you need a server with DDoS protection and firewall. Apart from that, you will also need a gaming control panel to run Minecraft. Do you have a control panel in mind?

Lastly, may I know your the budget for this server and where would you like to have the server located physically? Like in US or in Europe??.

Everything i marked in bold was things i don't really understand how they are thinking.

50 players.... you only need like 4 gb for that... not even.. 1 gb can run 10-20 smooth.

I can understand that they are not Minecraft Pros, but still, give out false information like that is... crap...

Lol, 150gb ram. With that you can host like a 2k server.

1 minecraft server alone wouldn't be about to run 2k players..

No, a Dedicated Server host. And after they did some research they said i needed 150 gb ram.
