Heyo!

TL;DR below :)

There title is pretty clear but still I will elaborate.
There has been an increment in threads suggesting the same thing lately (imo). This annoys both McMarkerter and staff members. The people who created it will receive hate that they didn't do enough research and that the suggestion was already out there. Even though the suggestion is similar staff and users of this forum will explain to them if it is bad/ok/good. This takes a lot of time which can easily be prevented and used for something else.

There are numerous amount of examples and I am not going to grab some, everyone knows this. (E.g. reputation threads) People (myself included) write paragraphs of text to still tell their opinion eventhough they said it in the other 3 threads. What a timewaster.

The similar threads before posting a suggestion obviously doesn't help that much. I think we should give out small amounts (1-2) of warning points to the user that did not do enough research and posted a thread which is too similar to others which are already denied/pending/accepted. Instead of explaining over and over why it is wrong instead the thread gets reported, the staff deleted the thread when they see the report and agree with it and issue the warning points to the original poster. They PM him and say that the report is to similar to existing one and link one which has already been posted.

I think this will clean up the suggestions section (less spam) and troll/hate suggestions about e.g. the reputation system will not appear anymore.

*This will be too much work for staffs!
- Well, a user of mcm can simply report it with a link to a thread that is similar. And if finding a thread to refer to as a similar but already posted thread takes longer than 20 seconds then I think the thread is not that similar or should just be allowed.

**This is also within common sense, if the thread which is similar is posted in the previous era than no, you do not have to report it. But that's why we have staff to decide if the thread is too similar.

That's all, have a nice day. o/

TL;DR: similar suggestion threads should be removed and 1-2 warning points should be given. Cleans forum (less spam), saves time, makes people actually check if it has been posted before.

Might as well ban them while you're at it.

This is by far one of the most ridiculous suggestions on this forum, or any forum on the internet.

So because Jimmy wants to make a suggestion they need to spend half an hour seeing if it was already suggested even a month ago. A player has the choice if they want to write a 3 paragraph response to a suggestion. No one is wasting their time because they have the choice. Maybe its better because they couldn't necro bump another thread to give their input so they can do it on a new thread.

I said if takes more than 20 seconds, just post it.

People write those paragraphs because if otherwise people will start to complain, staff do it because they will complain at the staff why there is no response.

That's really harsh (expected though), to give someone a warning for posting repetitive is fair? Just trying to prevent this

Not sure what you're getting at. Repeatedly posting the same thread over and over is not allowed either, so why not apply such a rule with the suggestions section (just a bit different)

IMO the reputation system suggestions are the worst but I guess opinions differ.

Disagreeing with someone, whether it be harsh, rude or inconsiderate, it is not a form of hate. Please use the word more appropriately, this is not that. Hate is huge, there is little hate on these forums, especially in Suggestions.. I will adhere though, I really do dislike your suggestion, it looks as if you wrote this with ignorance. facepalm

There has been a fair share of flame/toxicity in some of the previous threads. But I understand, wrong choice of words I guess. But what makes you think that I wrote this with ignorance?

an absolutely terrible idea, why warn users when they're trying to help MC-Market.

We don't want to scare users from making suggestions for the site. If someone has something they want to suggest then they are free to do so, even if it has been done before if they have something new they could bring up perhaps.

I don't see a reason for this. It takes longer to deny a suggestion and warn a user than to just deny a suggestion, so I don't see how this would really save time.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
