If the giveaway is a guessing number type, implement a field to with the number the user setting up the giveaway deems as the correct number.

Lets put a duration on the giveaway as well (already a thing) and use that to have the thread automatically select the closest # guess to the correct number if it isnt guessed in the allocated duration set when making the giveaway.

You can also automate this if its a decryption puzzle code and put in the "correct decrypted phrase" into a field where the thread will scan each reply and do the work etc. It will NOT be CaSe SeNsItIvE so the phrase can actually be identified regardless of how it is typed.

What would also be great is if a giveaway thread PMed the user when the giveaway is close or is ending on the day selected, so they don't have to manually check or have someone reply with "Who won?" sort of thing.

This would be a custom addon I believe, but would make the giveaway section just that much more efficient to use.

Mind you, if you're reading this, there are so many other tasks giveaway threads can automate such as picking a random user who posted on the thread with preset filters if they don't have Premium or Supreme (for a Premium or Supreme gift giveaway) etc.

I think this would be really cool to see and use on the marketplace here.

I mean... the staff team itself isn't an illusion there is a team of staff members. But there's one guy doing dev work is my point :p

I think that these are all logical ideas for us to expand the giveaways system with if we ever do get around to improving it, since it is pretty barebones at the moment. I'll move this to pending, thanks for the suggestion.

Automating the giveaways system was something that I previously thought was quite important, and I even went as far as to custom develop a system with an "Enter Giveaway" button which added you to a list and a winner could be randomly selected.

Unfortunately the system has been far too barebones to be practical or useful to users, so we've decided not to bring it forward to our XF2 site. We're not a giveaways platform, and developing something powerful enough to benefit users is infeasible to us given our priorities lay elsewhere (mainly with resource improvements).
