Not sure if this is a problem with something I have done in-game but I have been working for a week+ trying to fix lag on my server, we peak at 100% very often with just 4 players online which causes lag spikes that make the server unplayable. I was just wondering if this would be a problem with the server host (although no one else has reported this issue) I currently pay for an 8GB server and they have Xeon E5-1620 3.7Ghz. If any hosts out there know that their service will help fix the issues that I am facing then please get in touch with me!

Hello MemoryFault, we offer quality Minecraft Hosting for affordable prices.

Our Minecraft Hosting is split up into 2 categories, Budget and Premium. Our Minecraft services are located in New York City, Dallas and Europe. I would recommend you our Premium Hosting which I am sure would fix your lag issues.

Here are the prices and specs on our servers:
-> Budget Dallas, Europe and New York - $1/GB (Owned Hardware)
• CPU- Dual Intel Xeon X5670 and Intel Xeon E5-1650v3 CPU
• Others- 4x 250 GB SATA SSDs, DDR3/DDR4 RAM, Pterodactyl Panel
-> Premium Dallas and Europe - $3/GB
• CPU- Intel Xeon E3-1270v5 @ 3.6/4.0 GHz (Dallas) or Intel Xeon E3-1271v3 @ 3.6/4.0 GHz (Europe)
• Others- 2x 256 GB SATA SSDs, DDR4 ECC RAM

Our servers are equipped with 100 Gbps DDoS protection and 1Gbps Uplink, but you can get 500Gbps DDoS protection if you use our free GGA system.

What is GGA/Global Game Accelerator?
GGA is a system that gives Automatic Low Latency for users and more DDoS protection. People from Europe/Africa that use this to Dallas usually lower their ping from about 150ms to 80ms and Australia from 300 to 150-200ms. We offer free setup of this and it would be perfect for you if you have out of US players. Learn more here: https://www.psychz.net/gga.html

We are also a legal company, we are a registered Limited Liability Company in Connecticut USA. ID: 1270686

We also have some of the best support in the Industry, just ask our customers or look at our reviews here: https://www.mc-market.org/threads/279552/ & https://www.trustpilot.com/review/sparkedhost.us

If you have those specs and you peak at 100% often, then it's not the host's inefficiency it's your software's inefficiency.

I would suggest contacting your host for help with this, they'll be able to troubleshoot and find the cause of the lag for you.

I have already been working with my host for many days and they have told me there is nothing else they can do to help me. I have recently been told and seen online that they are just reselling their servers hence the extreme cpu usage.

Spigot timings is a great tool (if it's available to you - depends what kind of server you're running) to pinpoint exactly what is causing the lag. I use it all the time to diagnose my clients' servers. Probably more than 99% of the time it's excessive entities or some poorly written plugin bogging the server down.

Spigot Timings is entirely bullshit and not that good of a tool. Use Timings v2, something Spigot refuses to use even though it's far superior, providing far better information insights, etc.
