Today marks our platform’s 8th birthday and we’re excited to announce that MC-Market is now BuiltByBit.

The word “bit” is, of course, a nod to the digital assets we’re a marketplace for, while alluding to the common expression “bit by bit”. We believe that incremental and circular growth embodies the nature of our platform as well as the businesses our community nurtures:
  1. Anyone can start their own business. Whether you’re a creator, gamer, developer, artist, freelancer, or entrepreneur, all it takes is the initiative to start and the patience to build it, bit by bit.
  2. All of our businesses are built off of the many products and services of our peers and their businesses. We fund each other, we build each other, we grow with each other, bit by bit.
We’ve grown to be a valuable website to our community as a predominantly Minecraft-focused platform. Since 2014, we’ve provided the safest and easiest platform for over 385,000 young entrepreneurs to learn about business and earn money, with half a million US dollars of resource payments facilitated in just the past year. We’re confident that we can use what we’ve learnt over the past eight years to transform the landscape of other games in the same way we have with Minecraft.

Today doesn’t mark a new beginning for our platform; Minecraft will always be at our core and our vision for the future remains the same. This rebrand merely positions us to expand our horizons and, as a result, better to serve our community. Gaming user-generated content is a rapidly growing market which we are able to further explore now that our new name no longer restricts us from venturing beyond Minecraft.

As a member of our community, you should experience no significant change beyond our new domain name and branding. The rebrand hasn’t removed any data, and you’re still able to use your exact same account with the same email address and password. All links from our previous https://mc-market.org and https://mc.mk will automatically redirect to the correct pages on the https://builtbybit.com domain forever.

We look forward to growing with you as we explore more games and continue developing ourselves as a platform where anyone can make a living and support themselves while doing what they love.

We are built by creators,
by gamers,
by developers,
by artists,
by freelancers,
by entrepreneurs,
We are BuiltByBit.

I'm so proud of how far we've come over the past 8 years; thank you for being a part of our platform and shaping who we are today.
Mick

I really like the idea of a new direction, not the biggest fan of the name - I can't even begin to unpack that. Best of luck to you all, this website has taught me a lot of valuable lessons over the years.

I think your great Mick, but the name is just odd. I understand your trying to go beyond Minecraft, but this name just doesn't roll off the tongue. It's awkward a little. I know it's hard to listen to criticism sometimes when you put alot of time and effort into something like this, but I mean it's just strange to me. Yes we might get used to the name, but still.

Here's some suggestions of other names, that may be better or worse. I was just searching around, let me know what everyone thinks:

E-Market.org
BitMarket
CreativeMarket
IronMarket
PlayerTrades.com
GlobalTrades.com
MarketRealm.com

just a few I thought up in a few minutes, food for thought. But either way this community has helped me alot, and I write this just as another opinion being added to the mix.

I think they did this because they don't want the focus to be only on Minecraft services, that's good in a way but then again MCMarket branding is the best

If you want to sound like a generic bland marketing campaign, this is perfect!

The name honestly grew on me already so good to see it being used. Neat.

When I first joined MC-Market back in 2014 and created my first thread offering my services as a plugin developer, I was quickly disappointed by the lack of buyers and left the site, thinking it wasn’t going anywhere. Within a year, MC-Market had shattered my expectations and exploded in activity as the Minecraft creative community joined together to buy, sell, and trade with each other in what would become the dominant marketplace for our niche. It became my home, my pride, my escape, and my responsibility for what has now been nearly seven years.

MC-Market has undeniably changed the course of my life. I can’t overstate how grateful I am for the opportunity to serve this community and the invaluable experience I’ve gained in the process. Thank you Mick, thank you to the current and retired staff team, and thank you everyone for being my cornerstone, and building this platform with me.

I look forward to continuing to serve our community under its new name, which represents us all and the way we are constantly building off of and supporting each other. Other games and niches, watch out; we’re coming, with open arms and a passion for building awesome things together.
