Hacked through Facebook?

This is more than likely a very silly question but I am curious since I've been getting messages saying stuff like "don't accept friend requests from this user, he hacks into your account and contacts"(probably not accurate, just from off the top of my head). Hacked in what way, I don't know.

But anyway, is this actually possible?

Depends what you mean by "hacked", since the term is extremely misused these days.

Adding someone will not allow them to "hack" into your account, no. That's not possible. If it is, it's a major security bug and it would be exploited by some hacking group before appearing on some kids' block site.

As usual, beware of phishing attempts and do not click links you do not recognise. Act with common sense, and you won't get "hacked".
