Hello guys :) I'm RickyB98, just signed up a few minutes ago. I'm a 17-year-old Italian student with a passion for software programming.

I really like this forum and I think it can be a good opportunity for freelance developers or just people who are good at developing to get some money out of their work and possibly run their own businesses out of this profit.
I'm new to this community/market and I hope that I'll be able to finance my Minecraft server by selling plugins on this forum. I've started developing different kinds of stuff about 4 years ago, though I've hardly ever profited from it, which is bad if you consider that as a student I have no way of financing my own servers for developing purposes.
My only perplexity is that I don't know if I will ever be "successful" on this website because of the lack of proof of experience. Reading a few posts, I've seen that if you haven't done much *yet* on this forum, you end up receiving replies from other people saying that nobody is going to buy your plugin because of your apparent inexperience.

So here are my two questions to you as a newbie (on this forum):

1. Just how do you start?
Let's say I've made a simple plugin that is fully customisable and that can help you navigate through your BungeeCord servers with a compass (or any other item) that can (or cannot) stick in your inventory. So I go ahead and post it on the forum. How do I draw people's attention into buying my plugin (as a newbie)? How do you "convince" them that your plugin is better than any other plugin that's ever been made for that task?

2. What factors do you consider when pricing your plugin?
I've been working on that plugin for a week roughly, it took me some thinking about which classes to create and what checks to make and all the other aspects that concern that task, some testing, some bugfixing, etc. and it's still in development (though fully functional). So how do you price it? E.g. this plugin is very useful, even though it's simple to develop, does the price go up? I've spent X time on this and I maintain it, does the price go up? This is my first plugin (actually it's not, but I have no proof for that), does the price go down? But most of all, what's the base price you give it? Like numerically, how many coffees is it worth? So I'd like to know what your strategy on pricing your plugins is, because I have no idea where to start with that.

That said, I'm looking forward to getting better at developing thanks to this forum, and to reaching my 3 posts goal to skip moderation! :p

Bye,
RickyB98
