From experience, I would personally not recommend ads for your channel. I promise you it isn't very effective and you aren't going to get anything worth the amount you would pay for ads. If you do get subscribers there is a large chance that you will end up with a lot of inactive ones which isn't something you wanna do.
I would focus on making high-quality content, sticking with it and staying consistent with your content and your uploads. If you are making Minecraft content it could be a good idea to try to find a server that you can get a YouTuber rank on (depending on the size of your channel). Make videos on that server and make friends with a lot of the community. As players see your name in chat it will sometimes attract attention to your channel. Plus, if you are a likable and friendly person who also makes good content there is a large chance that the people you become friends with on the server will subscribe and possibly even get their friends to subscribe.
Network within the Minecraft community and get your name out there and it will be much more effective.
I did the same thing that I just mentioned when I started my channel and it worked out for me in the long run. Think quality over quantity and stay true to yourself, your subscribers, and your content. Good luck!!
