So im currently in the proccess of making my network which will consist of a bungee server a hub and regular and hardcore factions servers. currently im just using a shared hosting company/reseller. i was wondering would it be best to just upgrade my ram on the hub server and regular and hardcore before release. we are expecting to get around 100 players when advertised. so should i just upgrade the ram on the shared host or get a dedicated server to host them all. i would not know how to setup a deicated server or know were to start. suggestions???

and if you recommend dedicated please comment any good sites.

How much money do you have to spend on hosting each month?

Definitely a dedicated server.

We can always help you install everything if needed.

Hi Rainy,

Well, assuming that you mean 100 players across the entire network, you should be okay, of course depending on how much RAM you have assigned to each server.

I definitely would not purchase a dedicated server at this stage - it's not really worth it. Instead, you could get a VPS and install Multicraft on it, and then host all of your servers on that.

That way, you get dedicated resources, while still having the convenience of a control panel.

It is advised that you have 5-6GB RAM assigned to a server that has 100 players on it. So, let's say you get 100 players on at once, here's what you'll need:
BungeeCord: 512MB assigned
Hub: 1.5GB assigned
Regular factions: 3GB
Hardcore factions: 3GB

512MB+1.5GB+3GB+3GB = 8GB

Therefore, an 8GB VPS would do the job nicely. We offer an 8GB VPS for $32 / month, with a two month discount for MCM members. We can also install Multicraft for you, and get everything running smoothly. Message me if you are interested.

Do note that it is highly unlikely that you will get 100 players on the first day. Very few servers manage to pull this off - you must have an outstanding marketing team if you believe this to be possible.

Good luck!

Kind regards,

Hi,

When you choose to go with a dedicated server, be sure to have experimented with local Linux virtual machines as a little bit of experience will help you out a great deal. (Hosting servers using windows is generally a bad idea)

If you find it hard to manage a dedicated server, stick with your hosting provider. If you've got a good one they know what you are doing.

If you have a friend who can manage servers, just make sure that they can't back-stab you, as that risk can't be neglected with current days' Minecraft community.
