Long as your laptop can run, you should be fine. Honestly you can use any software for graphic design, the difficult part is knowing how to actually design things
Good colors, creativity, etc.

I personally like photoshop & illustrator for graphic designs. But you can also use free software's like https://www.photopea.com/ which is basically like photoshop but free.
Once you pick a software to use, just get straight into it. Test out what different buttons do and see what works out for you. Got to get that hands on experience

I would recommend just getting super familiar with Adobe Photoshop since that's the most common graphic designing software. Once you are confident in your creating abilities you can start selling smaller graphics like logos, or banners for websites.

Thanks so much for the tips and resources. I'm also starting to learn graphic design..I have to say it's a lot harder than I imagined! Just one question, where is it better to create the portfolio of further projects? I last studied design somewhat superficially in college. But after I read a blog article on https://edubirdie.net/blog/is-edubirdie-legal-or-cheating and found out that Edubirdie isn't cheating but a legal service, I started asking them to help me with homework from time to time. Then I lost the focus of my studies a little. And now, I am engaged in self-education, which is somewhat more difficult due to the fact that there are plenty of resources on the Internet, but not all of them are quality ones enough. Often, tutorials are published by profane people and not by professionals. So thank you twice for the information.
