No, don't do that. When they catch on (they will) they will just remove the funds from his account, this isn't the first time something like this has happened.

Tell them about the error. My Chase account duped me an additional $100 from a $200 deposit and I didn't report it (obviously).
Guess what? They found out about a week or so later and just removed the funds anyway.

alright thx for the heads up

I mean since it isn't your fault, you can decide to report it or not. Of course, the right thing to do would be to report it. Good luck!

They don't care if it is his fault. They'll take back their money.
That is like if someone drops a $100 bill in front of you but you just take it and don't tell them until they find out and are now in your face about getting their money back. Only issue is, they can legally just take it out, it is likely in their ToS somewhere.
Then why report it right away? Let them chase him. There is always a chance they are not going to find out.

Because he’ll likely spend it or put it somewhere else so he’ll lose even more money.
Why is this so hard for you to understand?
You don’t try to cheat banks or money companies.
Only time will tell. He should just leave the money in his account for a while and if they take the money back oh well. If not then good for him.
