Help w/ donations

Hey, I was wondering if there is a specific way you guys convince your players into donating to your server.

If you are willing to explain your method, I will give you a vouch in return.

Also what are the most enjoyable server types that will get donations?

Give out 75% coupons to players who win competitions and shit. Makes them wanna use them more.

Simple answer yet the best I've heard. Don't make a server to get a profit. You will fail everytime as its a greedy way of thinking and you will drive away all potential loyal players.

Not always true, You can't go into the server 'business' without having the mindset of trying to earn money. If you go without trying to make money you will never make it. It's just like trying to open your own store or something, you want to make money from the service/good you are supplying to the public.

I'm aware, but you don't have the mindset of just using people for profit in minecraft. servers are very different for running a store. If you ask me my server with 500 players or more makes 4000+ a month, but I still only have the server because it is fun and not because the money.

I never said you use the people for money. I just simply stated that if you go into the minecraft server 'business' without the mindset of doing it for no money you will go nowhere. You will quickly notice that if you dont bring in enough money to cover the server cost and your getting no benfit of keeping the server open then you wont want to do it anymore (I've seen this happen to many of my friends that tried to open a server and failed. Not saying everyone wants to close their server because of lack of funds but it does happen) . You unlike many people trying to open minecraft servers were on the lucky side.. getting 500 players and 4k+ a month. You and for anyone else in the position like yourself dont have to worry about covering the server cost and not having to deal with the stress of getting the money from other outlets (IRL job, money from parents etc...)

Without the mindset of doing for money you will get nowhere? He literally just said he done it for fun and he ends up making 4K a month. I personally believe that doing it just for fun will get you further, it means that you genuinely care about the project and it reflects on the community significantly. You are more likely to get involved and actually spend time enjoying the process which is an added bonus.

Give non donators a decent amount of perms. Use a shop plugin to make ranks purchasable ingame (eula compliant), you can either make them realistically affordable or just a ridiculous amount of money. Give donators perms that make it easier for them to do a bit better in game but not too pay2win. Save the super op perms for the highest ranks. Also sell meme based tags that work off the community so more people will want to buy it. Make the most expensive rank affordable say maybe $40. This is because most people wont want to spend $100 or more on one server. This way more people will be buying the top rank. Make people enjoy playing on the server, if they enjoy it they are much more likely to donate! Factions is quite good to get donations, so is prison and skyblock. Survival may work well too.

He is to lazy to do that. He wants to make it in 10 seconds, get someone to buy something for $20, and shut it down.
