Hello Cuties of mcm!

Okay so ah, i know this is the most shittiest question i could ask on this forum but nevertheless we do have some smart kids like 120275 so why not take your opinions on this matter.

So ah, I'm currently doing economics and i'm in my first year. The reason behind choosing this field was because of the job opportunities and the pay. I love the subject ngl , but as a part of this course its mandatory to have mathematics(Calculus , algebra etc ) which i suck at.

I also love designing. I'm a self taught designer . I’ll admit, I’m nowhere near as good as many design prodigies . But i honestly love doing this. I've recently got into UI/UX designing and started redesigning website with sh*t designs and i enjoy what i do.

So i'm just wondering if i should drop economics and work towards getting a design degree or continue with economics and work on educating myself in terms of design on the side.

man you called me smart omg !!!!!!!!

on a serious note if you love economics you would be much better suited to learn it and design as well if you are able to manage that. i honestly believe that good designing and good looks are the future - more and more people prefer looks, even at the expense of functionality sometimes nowadays, and being a good designer and having a creative eye (which i unfortunately terribly lack) is a blessing.

make sure you like what you are doing and you can manage it. don't bite off more than you can chew - take things slow and do a lot of self-searching, then do some outside research on what can help you as well (having contacts, friends or elders who are in the same field, mentors etc) to see which will help you the most.

i wish you all the best!!!

I’d say keep going with Economics, once you get the degree and a decent paying job, it won’t be hard to go back for a minor in design taking night classes. Otherwise, there are lots of great free options like Khan Academy that can start you on the basics.
