Help with Dedicated server

Hey, so recently I bought a dedicated server, and have been trying to set it up to minecraft and shit, but it hasn't been going too well. I tried adding minecraft to it via Putty following these steps https://www.vultr.com/docs/install-a-minecraft-server-on-centos-6 . I legit did all the things that website showed me. The server comes up, but once I close Putty, the server closes too. I put the files via filezilla like the plugins and such, so in those steps it told me to create a user, which i did, then i login into the filezilla and went to the user, then click on minecraft. Idk if I'm doing this wrong, but everything i close Putty the server closes too.

I'm looking for someone to help me, or maybe set it up for me for a vouch or something. Thanks!

Server uses CentOS6 (64x)

Yeah mate you need to use screen, just do sudo apt-get install screen, install it then do screen, then java -jar whateverthejaris.jar and you can quit putty

apt-get is for debian based distros. CentOs is RHEL with CentOs you use YUM
