Help with Learning to Code

Hi, I always have wanted to learn Java and other languages but I just find any tutorial online way too boring for me to even be interested in. It's not fun when they just give you directions like,
"put your name in quotes", it's just too easy and a waste of my time. Is there any way that you guys learned that's different than this? I'm also not really interested in learning over Skype.

Well if you don't learn from videos and you don't want lessons, what other way is there??? Books? pfft

I mean I can try lessons, but I just don't feel like I'm learning when I'm told what to do.

Ohh yeahhh baby. But books are a bit of a procrastination. You'd believe that you need to read the "entire book" but you'll be bored halfway through lol.

I would read a book. Books are written by professionals while the lessons people sell here are usually taught by people who aren't even proficient at the language themselves.
