Hi, ive come across a problem with my server when trying to install a 64 bit OS
It has 64gb of ram and 4 x Xeon Quad E7330
Any idea why i cant install a 64 bit os? it doesnt seem to let me boot it off of the cd

You cannot install a 64-bit operating system on a 32-bit computer since the CPU's cannot understand the instructions the architecture is different.
But how do i check if it supports the 64 bit architecture, in the manual it says it does so im not too sure

Why not just try and install 32Bit, see if it works.
I already have but i want to be able to launch mc servers larger than 2gb ;p[DOUBLEPOST=1483882627][/DOUBLEPOST]
You can look at the sticker on the server or go to the BIOS setting on boot.
Doesnt say it in bios afaik, i can show you the screen if i want, ive basically checked through all the options

with no os installed you would need to google the chipset and cpu

Already have and it says it supports it
then you can support it. I am assuming you are tying to install linux? is this a personal server? a hosted server using OVH or something?

Look in the CPU settings, if you have 64GB ram its safe to ASSUME its 64-bit now a days for better memory performance.
Not in cpu settings,
search up the server/processor on google and see
Already done and says it supports it (Xeon Quad E7330)
ask the server provider
They no longer offer support for the system as it is a few years old
home check the tag.
Will do right now, its rather heavy though (70kg) so it'll take a minute
