Help with setting an IP

So, I'm looking for a free way to change my server's ip from numbers to play._______.com. How would I do this?

NOTE: I posted in here because I've heard there's a way to do it using DNS or something.

Forward the domain towards cloudflare.com, once forwarded set up an a record "play" towards the ip of the server. Next create an srv record that the name is "_minecraft._tcp.play." and the value is set to "SRV 0 0 25565 play.domain.com.". On the a record make sure the cloud is not orange and is gray. This will allow you to use your subdomain as your connection.

Pretty much. Cloudflare knows that the SRV should be using the IP of the server and not Cloudflare's IP. I can confirm it works with the orange cloud on because I used it like that for many of my servers.

cloudflare only protects against layer 7 attacks and minecraft runs on the 4th layer of the OSI model
