Hello,

Recently I've been wanting to get into web development preferably HTML , CSS & JS to start with. I want to know how you guys learnt if you are self-taught. I know a lot of people use YouTube as a way of learning but who would you recommend because there are thousands of tutorials. Any other means of learning would be helpful.

Thanks

Learned the basics of html and css in IT class and the rest I got it from random online classes as well as trials and errors.

I just learnt with the wonders of the internet. YouTube never really did it for me, but stack exchange really helped me out along with w3 schools. The when you get to learn php, the php manual explains everything so clearly. Same goes for the jquery manual if you ever dabble with that.

I learned by looking on the internet youtube never done much for me as it wasn't that clear to me so the way i look into stuff was with these websites and with other people's code.

Websites:
https://www.w3schools.com/ <-- An amazing website to learn from.

Also, i wouldn't start off with learning Javascript in till you get really good with HTML and CSS as javascript is way complicated to learn than HTML and CSS. The way I did it was I learned HTML and messed with that for a while then I went to CSS then I messed with HTML and CSS combined them together and boom then I learned bootstrap (Also I am still learning bootstrap) it will allow you to use your website and auto resize it to any device you are on such as phone,iPod,iPad, tablet and smaller monitors like laptops then after you learnt all that and you feel confident that you can make websites for other people and you think your work is well done then you can get into making your website look way better and have cool feathers and you do that with javascript. Hope this helped you a little and good luck on your web development quest hope it all goes well for you :)

People say they're self-taught and stuff but what they usually mean is that they had help from friends or youtubers. Personally, I've had mentors online, used websites like W3Schools, used Youtube, and went to college to learn.
