high btc fee?

ive recently tried to use bitpay to buy stuff with my btc, and all of a sudden the fees are super high. literally been using it for months and all of a sudden I'm buying something for like 2 bucks and the fee is $8

Bitcoin fees are through the roof right now, don't worry.

The fee is usually about $0.14

Use a native segwit address, coinjoin if possible and try to send all your outputs in one transaction. For a legacy address the size is following:
inputs*180 + outputs*34 + 10 with an error margin of inputs
Multiply this size by the fee and you've got the total fee. It is really high when the network is under pressure.
