As the title says add bigger resources size its limited to something like 80mb and I need to upload something that is a little over 300mb so it should be raised to like 500mb.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

What is it you are trying to upload that is so large?

Network server ;)

(pls no rat i promise)
Well, I have nothing against the idea, but if we all uploaded 300mb rats, MCM would run out of space pretty quick.

The main, obvious problem is indeed storage space. right now, MCM takes no fee from resources. You pay for premium once, and you get to sell resources indefinitely.
If the storage size were to need an upgrade, that'd increase the costs a lot.

Then they need to allow .txt or something because I doubt I'm the only one who has ran into this issue before.

wait they DON'T allow .txt? that's interesting.
Well, anyway, I use Sellfy for larger things. It's not as cheap but it allows files of up to 2 GB as well as .txt files.

Maybe if the current limit is the limit of resource size that's free to sell, and above that you have to pay like 5% per sale or something?
or if the current limit is raised to 100 mb or so.

If you're running into an issue uploading large files to sell on MCM, then it might not be the place for you to sell. There are plenty of other options to sell things, as Ivain mentioned above increasing the size isn't just as simple as changing the allowed limit and everything good to go.

I'm sure Mick could get 1TB file storage space quite cheap.

There are only 1,123 resources, if every one of those was 500MB we still wouldn't fill 1TB. Very few would use 500MB of space, so I don't think storage space is as much of a problem as people think.

Maybe an increase just for Premium/Supreme or just Supreme users?
This would require someone to pay for the rank to upload larger files. Which may gain some extra revenue and prevents all users from doing it which could deter spam of the system.

Although the cost of adding this might be more than its worth.

I just don't see the reason we should tell users with larger resources to gtfo and use another site.

Well if they allowed .txt files it wouldn't be a issue in the first place.

What file type are you changing to making it go to 300mb then?
I'm trying to sell a network on resources and its just over 300mb Justis told me to make a suggestion and that .txt files where not allowed, I've already condensed the network down to the lowest possible size.

Putting the link in a .txt file isn't allowed because it kind of undermines JustisR's job of checking the resources. I could submit a legitimate resource, he could approve it. Then I could change the file to some virus / malware, and no one would know till it was too late. If the file is stored on MCM, then people cant just chance it like that. Makes it safer for people.

Why couldn't they though? If I upload anything after its approved once the updates don't have to be approved (unless that changed)

That's actually a fair point. Kind of kills the reason not to use txt files with the link in. If that's true.

That's not a good idea.
Not having to pay per sale is one of the reasons I use resources. If there was a price, I bet Sellfy would seem much more appealing.

I do see plenty of people, even with the file sizes as they are now, uploading zips containing wayyyyyy more files and folders with even more files and folders than they need to include.
Especially with things like setups. You should not be generating default configs and including that in your setup, even if you have custom configured files. Include the plugin jar, or better yet, a link to it in the description, and those defaults will generate on their own. No need for us to store it.
I'm concerned that increasing the file size by that much will only encourage this sloppy sort of zipping and distributing that we see, however, for those that need the space, it should be provided.
I'm all for allowing larger file size limit for supreme.
Supreme doesn't have enough features as it is, and this would definitely be a good one.

As for the txt files issue...
Imagine paying $40 for a setup, or a custom world, or some sort of fancy shmancy database, and the money's sent, then you get access to the download, you download this resource you invested the last of your savings into, and it’s a text file with a link in it.

You say, "Alright, well, no problem".
Then you copy paste the link into your browser…. And it doesn’t work. The file on the other end doesn't exist.

The problem is obvious.
The file at the end of any link can always be swapped/modified/deleted, at any time, and then poof, we have no history of it.
This bypasses the entire point of the approval system, because the file we see may, at any point in time, be changed.
It’s no different than charging for a text file that says “Message me for the file”.
They may answer your message, they may not.
The file they give you may be the one you were expecting, it might not be.
At this point, it's not a resource, and you might as well just make a thread.

The approval system guarantees that EVERY resource has at least 1 download which has had it's contents gone over by an MC-Market resource moderator, and it guarantees that as long as that resource is up(and our database isn't corrupted), that download will always exist, EXACTLY how it was when it was first submitted.

And if someone submits something malicious as an update, we have record of that, they can't change or delete the file and avoid getting punished; and you can still go back to that first download for an approved file.

You can't change whats on the end of a Mediafire link as I know of.. But I do feel what your saying about the download not being on the end but if that does happen can't the buyer just ask for support or chargeback?
