http://blog.mediafire.com/2010/08/update-an-existing-url-with-a-new-file/You can't change whats on the end of a Mediafire link as I know of..
As I said, if that's the case, then you shouldn't be using resources for that product. The whole point in resources is so that buyers/sellers don't have to go through that. Just use the forums if that's what you need. But I do feel what your saying about the download not being on the end but if that does happen can't the buyer just ask for support or chargeback?
Well if supreme got more space I think it would be a great perk.http://blog.mediafire.com/2010/08/update-an-existing-url-with-a-new-file/
You can update mediafire links with new files.
Also, to put it bluntly, I'd rather us not use other sites/3rd party services for hosting our resources. It's not smart, ever.
The decisions about the future of all of the files using those services will have no say from MC-Market; so if we depend on them, we put our resources which depend on them, and the users of those resources at risk.
As I said, if that's the case, then you shouldn't be using resources for that product. The whole point in resources is so that buyers/sellers don't have to go through that. Just use the forums if that's what you need.
But more importantly, we need to have record of the files on our servers. I gave you the ratter example.
If it were just one little problem, then it probably wouldn't be such a big deal, but it's not; and the simplist solution, the one that solves all of these, is just us hosting the files ourselves, and that is what we should do, for the security of our site and our members, that is the best course of action for MC-Market's future. I believe that.
Or maybe make it so supreme can upload like 1-2 files which are X amoubt. Problem fixed
So will it be raised to 500mb and for everyone or maybe a supreme feature?I'll move this to pending for the resource update.
Thanks for the suggestion.
I certainly haven't decided any particular size limit or which ranks will get it or anything, that will come later. So will it be raised to 500mb and for everyone or maybe a supreme feature?
After further consideration and time to see how our development queue is progressing, I'm going to move this suggestion to denied now, and we will not be allowing for Supreme users to upload resources larger than 200mb in the future on the site unless our plans change. It is too large and difficult for us to implement given the Cloudflare limitations, perhaps if Cloudflare ever updates their $200/mo plan to increase that limit we can update accordingly. It's been a while since this suggestion was moved to the pending forum, so I figure I'll give an update on what the plans for this in the future are.
The limitation we have for new resources isn't limited by our server space or money we're willing to invest in the idea, but instead is Cloudflare. I believe that at the time this suggestion was made we had our resource limits for everyone set to 87MB, but since then we have given Supreme users the ability to upload 200MB resources, which is the maximum possible on our Cloudflare plan. Upgrading from our current Cloudflare plan ($200/mo) is infeasible, since it will cost thousands per month for Enterprise-level protection.
I would like for us to allow our Ultimate resource creators to upload resources larger than 200MB in the future, but to do so would require a completely separate server not behind Cloudflare to do so, and we simply haven't seen it as a priority.
This is something I would like for us to implement in the future still, but considering the amount of work that is going to go into making this possible for ~5 users that would actually use it, this hasn't been done yet.
Thanks for your patience with implementing this.
