"Highly Experienced Freelancers" Trend

Hi! My name is Askarion, I'm a freelancer and I'm from Romania. I want to start saying that I am very sad that I have to make this post, but I want to prevent you about something.

I started doing commissions a few months ago when I decided to stop making personal projects (Minecraft Networks) and for a few months I keep seeing other people from my country lying about their past experience, age, big clients such as Youtubers or large networks.

Their posts will sound like "I have 1000 years of experience, I'm one of the best and most experienced in this field, I managed to satisfy 10.000.000 players with my work, I worked for Youtubers with over 500M subscribers etc etc etc etc". Of course all of those are bullshit. I've been working in Romanian Minecraft Community since 2015 and I'm still active, everyone knows me and I know every single person from Romanian Minecraft Community of configurators, developers & owners and I can assure you that almost all of them on this platforms are trash, and almost all of them are lying about their experience (I'm talking about Romanian freelancers who managed romanian servers, owned romanian servers, worked as configurators or developers on romanian servers, I'm NOT talking about romanian freelancers that work as Web Developers, selling resources such as setups, store themes, graphic designs etc.)

When you find a freelancer who's from Romania and have the notes I told you above in their portfolios (1000000 years of experience, 10.000.000 satisfied players etc) and you want to hire them, make sure you're asking them for verified vouches from the Youtubers they worked for, and also from the networks owners. Most probably they won't give you those vouches because they're lying about everything.

I'm not saying they don't have any exeprience, most of them can do just basic stuff, low quality products or making configurations / setups based on backups / leaked resources.

I've checked lots of profiles and portfolios from Romanian freelancers on BuildByBit and everyone I've found are lying about their age, their experience, their past work etc.

Now you may wondering "Askarion, what can happen if I hire one of those freelancers?".
Well you won't get an exclusive product, low quality product, high prices, non-compliance with the deadline and excuses like "sorry I was busy I'll do it tomorrow, sorry sorry sorry", products with edited leaked / stolen resources (such as builds). Also if he get access to your files he might stole configurations / custom plugins / custom builds and resell them as exclusive.

How can you be sure that a freelancer is legit and he's not lying about his experience?
A good and legit freelancer will have vouches from actual clients (not 0 player servers or small commissions like menus), will be able to provide any kind of proof that his work is done by him and not from backups, leaked resources etc. If he has many years of experience as owner / configurator / server setups mean that he has a good knowledge in many plugins but 100% in essentials plugins (EssentialsX / CMI / LiteBans / LuckPerms / DeluxeMenus / TAB / FeatherBoard / KiteBoard / HolographicDisplays / DecentHolograms / ShopGUI+ / AuctionHouse / etc, just ask him how to solve X problem in one of those plugins and see how much time will take him to answer/solve the problem.

That's not self-promote, I just wanted to warn you about this trend that appeared in Romania, many of the configurators/owners who work on the Romanian servers found out that they can make lots of money on BuiltByBit platform, so they lie a lot to get customers (in Romania as a kid, 50-100$ is a lot for a configuration/server setup). Just make sure they're legit and they give you vouches from their past big clients.

HERE you have an example of a HIGHLY EXPERIENCED DEVELOPER AND SETUP CREATOR who's banned for scamming, doing products with leaked or stolen resources (downloading build from other servers and then sell them as "exclusive builds", doing setups with premade configurations "YourServer.net" etc etc etc)

Why do you talk like ALL, every single Romanian who works on BBB as a freelancer does those things ?
It seems that you are more frustrated and that this is actually the real reason you made this thread, rather than that you intended to warn potential customers of this "trend"

Also, do you realize you just let anyone know that 50-100 bucks are a lot for Romania (which is false) and potential clients will ask Romanian freelancers to do complicated things for less money, right?

Do not understand that I am against what you did, but I think you should have read the thread before you post it, because it is really easy to find out why you decided to make it

The fact that you are working on the Romanian MC Community since 2015 doesn't mean that you also do professional work as you self-advertise you do. Owning a MC Server which never ever had more than 100-150 (let's do not include youtuber's servers with same templates) players doesn't give you the right to self-advertise as having over 7 years of experience because owning a MC server doesn't mean that you have that experience.

I'm not making server setups here on BBB anymore but I can't understand one thing... What do you want to say with this thread? What did you make and everyone knows you for what? For all the servers you had made from backups? For your and your team's toxicity in the Romanian community? You owned a server with 150-200 online daily and let's say 400 online players sometimes on events and now you want to introduce yourself as "the best and trusted configurator"?

2. What about the resources you have posted here? That skyblock setup that you have posted is made from other servers' backups and I saw those configurations on all of your servers.

I can say more things about you if you really want this, I avoided your thread the first time but I see that you still think that you're "someone important" but you're the one who talks bullshit here, not the freelancers. Do you want me to remind you of how toxic you are? I don't think so.

Do you want me to remind you that last time we spoke was at the end of 2020? And I can see that you like to talk about things that happened years ago. If we talk about things that happened years ago do you want me to remind you when I was helping you fixing your exploits in 2019-2020, when you asked for my help with Xenforo, plugins etc. You're calling me "toxic" just because when I was 13-14 years old we had lots of "fights" on skype because those were the times, fights between all Romanian Owners.

THE END OF THE DRAMA
With this post I didn't want to create a drama, but from the messages above you can see that everything I said is true. The reason of this thread was to make Romanian freelancers that are eating shit in their portfolios about experience, past work etc, think about what they're doing and realize that is not ok. It's not ok to lie about your experience just to get more clients and money. It's not ok to steal buildings from other servers and sell them as exclusive, it's not ok to lie about your age, it's not ok to bullshit in your portfolio how you made 10.000.000 players happy with your servers, IT'S NOT OK TO SCAM PEOPLE.

In this thread I was talking about freelancing, I was talking about present, I was talking about what is happening with most of the Romanian freelancers on BuiltByBit now in 2022, I was talking about freelancers work, and my great Romanian "colleagues" were offended, they started attacking me without valid arguments. Some of them who didn't answer to this post started to message me on Discord about how much money they make per month, how should I hang mysqlf and how they will send messages to my clients about I quote "how stupid you are".


They started talking about my past, about my old projects, about things that have nothing to do with freelancing, nothing to do with this thread or about present.
I don't care about money, I don't care about self-promote. I'm not the best freelancers from my country, on BBB, or in the world.
Nothing more nothing less, just take care and be careful who you hire

If someone did something bad, or got griefed, duped, you were the first to know about it. And it seems like you're still carrying that "security camera" performance.

Yep, the guy you're referring to the most, just randomly messages me, out of nowhere "look what thread design I made, I have the best thread on mcm from all the actual managers". I wonder why you have the best thread I knew it's primarily fake and I confronted him about it, but it's not good publicity to go around and say "yep, look, this guy's thread is fake" plus I'm not the guy that would do something like this.

Now that we have that out of the way:

I know your intentions were genuine with this thread, but please, next time, refrain from including everyone else in it. I know that our Romanian folks have a higher tendency to scam, but that's not the case with everyone.
