Lol they may be illegal but do you see police kicking kids off electric scooters when they ride them on the pavement? True it may be illegal but doesn't mean the police are going to in force it. Hence I still ride it around.

I have one, they're awesome to mess around on. Or to go up to your local shop and get some food. They banned them from public areas. Although police don't mind when I'm on mine, its only if I'm causing trouble on it they fine me
