I know people still like 1.7, but you have to let go at somepoint. Alot of plugins are starting to stop support for 1.8, even though alot still do. Quite a few are 1.9+ now. 1.7 support is long gone, in alot of plugins now, and you will find yourself using older versions of plugins, that dont have the bug fixes / updates.

Why would you still want to be on 1.7 over 1.8?

1.7/1.8/1.9 and off-topic but for my plugins I'm fine since all of them are custom XD except Vault (lets hope it stays 1.7/1.8/1.9 compatible or doesn't force us to update to 1.9)

There will always be 1.7 versions of Vault. Just google up "vault plugin" and you should see a link to the Files of Vault on Bukkit. And there will be plenty of 1.7 versions. It will never force you to update, it just gives you the option to.

Why would you still want to be on 1.7 over 1.8?

Because 1.7.10 has incredible hit detection vs 1.8, block hitting is at least 10 times smoother, everything pvp related is 1.7. If you truly pvp, its 1.7.10. 1.8 + 1.9 + 1.10 adds things, but seriously, its complete and honest bs. A lot of plugins still support 1.7, like 90% of major plugins. If you want something specific, yes it will be hard to get but still, 1.7.10 is honestly the best version of minecraft. It resembles reality like minecraft should, but adds game elements. Everything after, just gets weird adding wings, flying boat glitches, monster blocks, one eyed fish that shoot lasers.
