Hey!

There's a ton of threads asking about how to advertise & grow a server but I'm looking for advice specific to mine. My server is a few months old and aside from paying a streamer to play on it for a few times (which, btw didn't result to anything) I haven't done any other paid ads.

I'm willing to spend money, provided the results are "worth it". Here's some information about my server that might help you recommend the right options for me:

My server has a different gamemode, it's a unique take on Skyblock & Survival, it's hard to explain but the "normal" gameplay would be to build up your island, and then go to the resource world to complete quests, earn money, and gather materials. There's also daily quests which can keep players active, though this feature is still a bit buggy.

For the last 7 days my server has been peaking at 8-10 players daily, the community is friendly has a friendly vibe which is something I want to preserve.

IP: play.tinyisland.life (1.15.2)

What do you think would be the best way/s to grow my server?

1) Use social media

2) Maybe buy advertisements, they can get you some exposure if done correctly.

3) Find streamers/youtubers who actually can get you players even if they are smaller because sometimes they have tight knit communities that are willing to play on the same server as the streamer/youtuber.

I think there are a few points to make here. To start off if you want to keep that friendly community vibe then are not going to want to expand to large or you being to lose that type of feel. With that said, if you put in the time and invite people to your community via forums and discord that allow advert over time you will begin to create a community. An example of an add you can use is stated above, small streamers for tight knit communities. But the key to getting this server to have players is not to get them, but to keep them. Though if you pay for big advertisements they can maybe get you a surge of players, but nothing more. You need to focus less on getting the players but think more of how to keep them, whether that is unique content or just a good community. Anyway hope that helps and good luck with your server.

Platforms like Turbo are a good place to get connected with freelancers and content creators. You just specify that you're looking for a Content Creator, specify your budget, and fill out the required info. Check it out here: https://discord.gg/3KBUXDT

Also, Turbo never takes a fee. You pay the YouTuber you hire directly! YouTube advertising is a great way to grow your server.

You could ask friends to show others and see if that goes anywhere. I did that and it helped me a ton.

Hello Sparko!

Not sure if this thread is still relevant to you, but I had many servers in the past, some of them with considerable amount of players, but the problem that me and my team found while making server is that some people prefer to play on a established server that they know won't close in a couple of months (and that's understandable) than on a new server.

My suggestion would be make something unique and be patient, the most difficult thing in a server's growth it's the start, then when you have a established community it's pretty easy to grow since the community helps you a lot by inviting their friends and giving the server a positive reputation.

Best luck with your server and future projects.

Thanks, I have a Twitter for the server but don't really use it much. I've been trying to find YTbers/Streamers for a long time now but no luck w/ what I'm looking for so far.

I think my server has a pretty unique gamemode, getting the word out is my main concern rn.

Unlike most self-ads, this one seems promising. Joined & thanks!

I only know a handful of friends that play MC and I'm p sure we only play w/ each other.
