How can you redeem a 2015 cape, since the format changed?

Hey, I had a code I found on my email, when I click the link it just takes me to the minecraft.net profile user page where you change skins? Does anyone know how to redeem it. Thanks. Im sure the code is unused

Why, Mojang won't help put on OGs?

I think they would as long as it's not like a 2 letter name. Except that a lot of og names have minecon capes, for example the account 8 has a 2015/2016 cape.
