How do I find a Skype friends IP?

I have a friend named Austin on skype who says he wants to DDos me, how do I prevent him from doing so, and how can I find his IP?

As long as your IP is static (remains the same no matter what) then your screwed.. If your on dynamic then when the attack comes you can unplug your router/modern for a couple of hours and the ISP's servers will assign a "fresh" IP that you can work with. IN any cases save the threat from this person and any other personal identification and in case you are under attack you can get law enforcement to hopefully help you get him in legal issues. Dosing/DDosing are both federal offenses since they interfere with your peaceful operation/enjoyment.

Save all the data you can find about him that may help legal authorizes to try to help track him down if they get that it is a legal issue. Other than that you'll be fine as the worst you will need to do is unplug the router/modern for a couple of hours to get that new IP.

If your IP changes when you reset it, or if it doesn't.

Go into your CMD and type ipconfig.

Unfortunately that is correct however it is not "hurt to try" as it is a legitimately a crime. It just that many "do not care" probably in the sense that it "only" virtual as opposed to a physical attack.

Skype recently added a feature so that you can't get someone's IP using Skype. You're safe. Just don't click any weird links.

As for as that goes that is mainly correct but there is an old patch for Skype called 5.9/6.1/7.1 (Skype Version) they are debugged versions of Skype which you can get someone IP address just from having them as a contact on Skype.

Every IP address have a netrange of IP addresses around it if they IPBan your netrange your dynamic router will be rendered useless.
