Hi! My name is a Zink and I was wondering about hosting a Minecraft server from my house, as I have a really powerful computer. My dad won’t let me as he does not want others to see my IP. Is there any way to avoid this without paying for a host?

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

I think ultimately, it's not really all that possible, but there probably is ways to get around it.

Minecraft server from my house -- Please dont. Also you would need your IP to host the server.
I know the IP, and I know that it’s static. Are there any issues with port forwarding from home? My internet connection is strong and the computer (rarely used) is pretty powerful.[DOUBLEPOST=1534183097][/DOUBLEPOST]

Any idea what the ways are? Also my post says wondering, not “honking”

safest way to do it costs an absolute bomb, and that is to purchase another line into your house for the internet, and effectively paying for another contact, but even then unless you have really good speeds its not worth it. it is cheaper to pay a company like OVH to run the server for you. And then you backup if their servers go down, as they will try and fix them and so forth unlike where if you host it and they go down its all up to you (this would be only if the fault was their end) and also your looking at power cuts, where a host would have backup generators to properly shut down and save all data in the event of one, you may not so may loose data when you have one, which can be frustrating for you and the players. so all in all its better just to pay for the server to be hosted off site.

Well by ways of getting around it, I meant by the issues that you may come by. Like ddos attacks. You can get a firewall which can help with this issue.

Hi, I'm sorry to disappoint you but hiding the IP, the only thing that will generate is a loss of packages.
Here I can give you several options.

Rent a VPS if you have a reduced budget I recommend you
https://www.soyoustart.com/

If you want to create a Tunnel which will completely hide the IP of your Server you can use
https://www.x4b.net/

Again I repeat this type of measures the only thing they cause is also increase of bad ping = bad game experience.
good luck.
