How do people get a 10+ playerbase? $200 budget

I have tried so many things to get people to join my server and actually play it. I have $200 to spend on advertising, but I don't know what to use it on. People always say its extremely easy to get a 10-20 playerbase, but how? I tried using youtubers, rented hours on Minecraft-MP, and, I must admit, paid someone to bot for me. Nothing ever seems to work. After staying about 5-10 minutes, all the players leave. I do bump my PMC post every day at about 3-4 PM PST. Well for one, I got on the server went to the KoTH and "got hit w/o anyone looking." The players are also complaining about lag. You might not look at how to bring players, but how to keep them. If you'd like me to look into it, I could. Just PM me.

Okay thanks for the tip. Lag is a thing people are complaining about

Just posting on PMC (bumping everyday) and telling some of your skype friends could get you 10 players.

Rather than spending money on advertising, put your $200 towards a better quality server.

Personally, I recommend using a 4GB VPS for your factions server. I'd be glad to do the VPS setup for $15.

That's idiotic. He wants users, not renting a piece of better hardware with no users.

I'm okay, thanks though. Right now I have 4 gigs and 50 plugins. Next reset when I change some stuff around I'll remove son

No, not really. No player is going to stay on a laggy piece of crap. Just saying.

Servers fine as long as I do regular restarts
