Hey there, I am new to the Minecraft server space and I am trying to make a new server.

I was wondering what some good ways to get players would be. I have always wondered how big servers got so many players, and would love to how to do the same.

Hey!

personally I think the best way to get players is buying advertising. A lot of bigger servers pay a majority of their income on stand alone ads like discord, other markets, etc. Some big servers just attract players based of what they have like different aspects or twists to the default game play.

For when you make your server it’s always good to start and think from what a player might be interested in or want to play. It’s not always about getting players as having them wanting to stay. Good ways to do so is make your server look nice, adding new types of gameplay, etc.

along side that a big majority of larger servers have been up for a decent amount of time and have built a strong player base. Now that doesn’t mean new servers can’t be successful it just means you need to take the time and steadily build your server up.

As said before I’d totally recommend starting out with discord ads, or getting ads on mc market or other places. But it’s always better to look at what’s out their first and make a plan.

Hope this information helps!

You have to grow a community, you don't go from 0 players to 100 overnight. Listen to your community, and grow according to what they want. If you just do whatever you want you'll never get a stable community.

Your first go-to for advertising would be adding your server to a Minecraft Server listing.
Then try to create social media accounts. Partnerships with other servers are great.
Another very important is somehow making your current player base help pull new players to your server.
Do this with a rewards for referring or inviting people, make sure the server is generally fun and players come back - if your server seems just seems "ok", "average" or "normal", they probably will not come back - make sure the server is special.

If your going for discord ads MAKE SURE it’s not a random sever that has no interest in your server type

Don't just throw money at Ads, make sure your server is unique and balanced. Then start to grow a community and scale with what you can support.
