How do you guys stick to your goals? Such as working out, eating healthier, doing something with your life, etc etc. I feel like now that's it's summer, and I already wasted all of this quarantine (and i fuckin hate myself for wasting this much time that was given), I wanna do something with the few months that I have since I feel like school is going to be in person for me next year.

Any tips or suggestions? I wanna get somewhat into shape and learn some shit because I feel like I could be doing way more with my life

Set a higher goal than you can achieve and work towards it. If you give yourself one year to finish something it'll take one year, if you give yourself six months it'll take six months. Make sure to stay focused, recall why you're working on the thing you want to improve and make sure to keep it balanced.

Here's what I do, not really a system of any kind, but some stuff that works for me:
  • I keep a "wall" of sticky notes next to my computer for things I need to do, some short term, some long term. For me the visual reminder is necessary.
  • I'm a believer that if you measure something it will improve. Itrack some KPIs for some long term financial goals in Excel and look at that almost daily. I track earnings and expenses very closely. I also weigh myself every day and track what I eat in CarbManager every day.
  • For creative projects I use Trello (1 per project, fewer is better, currently just 1) and I have time set aside in my calendar every weekend. Even if I only look at the boards and think about them I'm okay with that, since it's creative work and thinking can be productive over the long term.
  • I have noticed that I'm MUCH better at removing something from my life than adding something, so if I have a goal I try to do it that way as it seems to stick better.
  • There is a pretty strong cognitive bias that you will always feel like you are not using your time to highest effeciency. That's totally normal. To help combat that I try to spend my "down time" loading my subconscious brain with information. So I try to watch financial videos, art instruction video and minecraft server videos and cut down/out as much entertainment as possible.
  • I also try to think about 3 buckets for my time, first is Wealth (anything I'm doing that will earn money; work, commissions, resources, financial learning etc), second one is Health (anything that keeps my body healthy; food, dentists, doctors, excercise etc) and third is Spirit (anything will keep me sane and full of energy; mediatation, social events etc). Then I just try to make my time productive into at least one bucket.
I think it's pretty personal and there is no one solution for everyone, so I hope some of that helped :)

Personally, I don't. I have some general target that, as I go along, I'll try and steer myself toward, but I'll prioritise going with the flow. It's never about making goals for me, more so about creating a direction so I don't end up aimless or end up suffering.

A lot of the time though other peoples' advice won't work for you, so try bits of everything if you can. You'll filter out what works for you, but don't stress if you don't find any one thing in particular.

Yeah I did it for ~6 months using https://morningpages.app/ and it was really useful, but couldn't maintain the habit. Started May last year and last entry was in October.

I have some general target that, as I go along, I'll try and steer myself toward, but I'll prioritise going with the flow. It's never about making goals for me, more so about creating a direction so I don't end up aimless or end up suffering.

This is great advice. Goal setting can mess with your general if you aren't hitting them.

Short-term and long-term goals and why I want to achieve them works for me. I have tons of things I want to do and want to change. In order for that to happen i have to keep the hustle going

It's always a really hard one, I suffered and am currently recovering from eating disorders and coming back from that for example required lots of goals, and a strong mental to get the job done.

1) You just have to give yourself the time to complete what you want to achieve, if you don't give yourself the time you will rush or end up giving up, set a plan out for the time you want to spend and what you want to do and stick with it.

2) Make sure your goals are realistic, if you set something you're never going to achieve or even feel like you can't achieve you won't be-able to push for your end goal.

3) Set what you want your end product to be, if you want it to be eating more healthy for example, decide exactly what you want your diet to be by the end and slowly work towards it, don't just make a change because that's not healthy either.

4) Once you have a goal, give yourself something you can check off, so you feel like you've accomplished something when you do it. Make a checklist or give space on your plan to mark off certain goals/checkpoints.

I'm always happy to give advice on the subject, being someone who has had to make changes to their life to accommodate an unfortunate situation and have to change to become more healthy. When it comes to goals, the most important part is sticking to a plan and being realistic, don't be hard on yourself and really go for it.

Yeah, It seems I don't always consider how future me is going to feel if I don't stick to my goals.

I'm not that good with sticking to any goals, mainly because teen years make you disinterested in everything. But when I do stick with my goals they're always focused around something I love, like programming, watching documentaries, cooking etc. So my advice would be to focus on goals that make you happy even when you're doing them!

I feel like these years I should be spending on learning and working. Ever since I was 13, I was always making money someway, and most of those ways were through Minecraft servers, and I feel like now that I don't do anything anymore, I 'm wasting my time, I could learn something new, make money, waste that money, but I just haven't had the interest to do much in general. I only make server trailers because that's the only way I can make money, but I have no fun from them and honestly they just feel like a massive chore.

You're never wasting time, even when you're just sitting around you are doing something. You could be watching YouTube and see a guy for example build an awesome game in some coding language and you can go "damn I wanna do that" or you could be sleeping and get a great idea in your dream for a future project (that has happened to me quite a few times) but you'll rarely get an idea or motivation or love for something by trying to force yourself to do that, schools force kids to study and most of them start hating studying, offices force workers to take short breaks and work long hours so the workers start hating their jobs, you force yourself to stick to something you don't like and you'll just start hating it and yourself. Don't think you're wasting time, think of it as sorting out what you want in your head because the best motivation and the best love for work comes naturally.

I've always felt like I have a limit. As of now, I'm 16, 17 in the next few months, and once I turn 18, boom, responsibilities, no time for stuff, gotta figure this shit out before that happens

I just remind myself: "If I don’t continue grinding through this endless monotonous work for now and the rest of the foreseeable future, the community will complain that staff don’t do anything, and we can’t have that".

First of all I tell myself: When there is will, there is a way.
Everything is possible because life is what you make it. To stick to goals I usually plan everything very neatly, make lists with all the necessary steps and just ticking the boxes is so satisfying that it just motivates me to carry on :)
